Online Tutoring

Online tutoring is always available via our appointment system for distance learners and other students enrolled in online classes, and for those who have documented accessibility needs.

From March 23rd 2020 and until face-to-face teaching resumes at FSU all our tutors will be online only and available to anyone who can access both an internet connection and either a laptop or desktop computer, ideally with a microphone and a webcam. Please note that tablets and phones do not support our software. If you don't have internet access and / or a suitable device, please email us. We may still be able to help.

If you haven't used our services before, go here to register. Go here to find out more about making an appointment. And please also review our online tutoring guide before your first appointment, so that you know what to expect.

To begin, login and look for a tutor with availability (a white box) at the time you want. Note that we have schedules for three locations, and if necessary you should check all three to find the best appointment for your needs. Then click on the box and follow the instructions. It's that simple. On the day of your appointment, be sure to log back in 5-10 minutes before the start time, click on your appointment, then click the red link to start or join the online session.

While online, you will work with a tutor using video chat to discuss your project and address any questions or concerns you have about your writing. You and your tutor will be able to access any attached document that you are working on. We try, to the degree that we can, to mimic our on-site services. (Please note that although you can attach a file when you book an online appointment, our tutors are not able to review documents ahead of time.)

For online appointments, the onus is on you to make sure that your technology works, and to seek help from ITS or other support services if necessary. However, if we don't see you online at the time of your appointment, we will check in with you via email. Please keep an eye on your inbox, especially if you are experiencing any difficulties.

We look forward to working with you!
